Time to reflect
Sir,—At this time of good will, one should reflect upon our relations with each other. Why has this planet Earth been cursed by having corrupt governments, corrupt politicians, corrupt businessmen, crime, drugs, racism, evil propaganda, greed, poverty, unemployment? Armaments factories are turning out more and more sophisticated weapons to kill and maim. We have religious bigots churning out their peculiar ideas. Food is being stored in caves and huge warehouses while people starve. Pollution is already having a serious impact upon our delicate environment. People who are anti-war are considered to be traitors. Where are we going? Plato, the Greek philosopher, searched for “truth” and studied democracy. Centuries later, we have yet to live by truth and there is no real democracy.— Yours, etc.,
