Unions strike coverage deal
PA Wellington Trade unions in the banking and finance industry have struck a deal ‘ on coverage of workers in £. new banks which will bek gin trading on April 1. * The Bank Officers’ Union and the Clerical Workers’ Association have responded to the deregulation of the banking industry by agreeing to form a Finance Unions Association. They have also agreed on a compromise deal on .. which union covers which workers which could see • clerical unions lose members to the Bank Officers’ , Union, with the transformation of finance institutions into banks. “ So far just the two unions have taken part in the formation of the finance union association
and they will begin discussing the rules and the constitution of the new body in April.
The two unions are sounding out the insurance workers’ union, and the Post Office union could also become involved. .
