NZPA-Reuter Cuttack The India captain, Kapil Dev, became only the second player after lan Botham to reach 3000 runs and 300 wickets in test cricket as his side cruised to its second successive innings victory against Sri Lanka yesterday. Sri Lanka, resuming on the fourth morning at 51 for three, was bundled out by India’s spinners for 142, to lose by an innings and 67 runs. India won the threematch series, 2-0. Dev gained his 300th wicket by ending an aggressive 40-run fourth wicket stand between the Sri Lankan captain, Duleep Mendis, and Rumesh Ratnayake. He bowled Ratnayake for 24 to take his tally of wickets for the match to five.

The spinners, Ravi Shastri and Maninder Singh, then took over, teasing the Sri Lanka batsmen with flight and spin to claim the remaining six wickets. Shastri wrapped up victory by trapping Guy de Alwis leg before wicket. The last seven Sri Lankan wickets fell for 51 runs.

Shastri took the bowling honours with four for 11 from 11 overs.
