Mine strife continues

NZPA-Reuter Johannesburg Another eight black workers have been killed in the worst violence at South African goldmines for 10 years, bringing the death toll in a month to 64, the country’s biggest ■mining company said yesterday. Anglo American Corporation said the eight died when Basotho workers from Lesotho clashed with Xhosa speakers in the tense allmale hostels at President Steyn mine. Thirty-seven were injured.
