350 at City Mission dinner
Bonni Tamati, aged four, enjoys dessert at the Christchurch Anglican City Mission’s open Christmas dinner with her parents, Mrs Losa Tamati and Mr Vic Tamati, a mission worker.
About 350 people attended the dinner at St John’s Anglican Church hall, an increase on last year’s figure of 325, said the City Missioner, the Rev. David Morrell. Notable differences about this year’s dinner were the larger number of young people, many from the streets, and the wide range of backgrounds of those attending.
Mr Morrell said it was an enjoyable time and possibly the smoothestrunning Christmas meal the mission had organised.
A further 100 people attended the Methodist Central Mission’s annual dinner at Aldersgate.
