Dairy Board buys second U.S. company
PA Wellington The Dairy Board is out to become as big a name in the United States market as its 17,400 tonne cheese quota will allow. The board announced yesterday that it had bought a second United States cheese company to go with its purchase in September of Otto Roth, the biggest importer and distributor of gourmet cheeses in America. The new company, Dorman, with annual sales put by the board at over $l2O million, is a big importer of Swiss cheese and a major marketer of consumer cheese packs in the eastern United States. The board’s United States subsidiary, New Zealand Milk Products, plans to integrate the two companies.
