The position of Joint Chief Executive Officer is therefore a new position, responsible for the overall management and control of the combined organisation. The two Councils have been operating a very successful Joint Engineering Service for some months and the formation of one organisation to service the needs of the two Boroughs is seen as the next step in making the best use of staff, financial and material resources. Applicants should be able to demonstrate proven leadership and mangement skills, as well as an ability to function effectively at the political level. The position is supported by an effective management team and sound financial and administrative systems. The appointee will be expected from the outset to have a major contribution in merging the two organisations to form a single administrative body.
