University Vacancies LECTURER V SENIOR LECTURER/ IN PHYSICS POST 85/52 APPLICANTS for appointment to Lecturer level should have a postgraduate qualification in Physics or Electronics and experience In University teaching and research or equivalent For appointment at the Senior Lecturer level a minimum of a PhD or equivalent and 5 years postdoctoral University teaching is required. The appointee may be required to teach at both degree and foundation level. There Is an emphasis on applied physics within the School and the appointee will be required to take responsibility for the teaching of courses within this Physics programme, including modem electronics and computer hardware. The appointee will also be expected to undertake research in the application of electronics devices to such fields as renewable energy supplies, environmental physics and lonospheric physics. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience in the Lecturer I scale: F 514234-19345 or Senior Lecturer scale: F 519964-23328: In addition, the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent or basic salary, appointment allowance and subject to the University’s current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 1215 per cent of salary. The University will contribute 10 per cent of the appointee’s slary towards an approved superannuation scheme or provident fund. Appointment will be for a contract period of three years and may be renewable by mutual agreement. The Centre is seeking a person, preferably Maori speaking, who can work in a variety of tribal settings to produce research useful to the Maori community, whether in the arts, training programmes, commerce, tourism or any other development area. The position Is an academic one within the University. The salary will be within the current range for Lecturers which is 330,500 to 335,000 per annum. The appointment in medical ethics will be a half-time one. but it is expected that the appointee will also practice in his/her field of medicine for the remaining half of the working week. For a hospital specialist, a suitable Joint appointment could be negotiated with the Otago Hospital Board to make the appointment a full-time one.
