Mother relieved killer is dead
PA Palmerston North The mother of a murdered Palmerston North woman, Joanne Warren, says she is glad her daughter’s killer is dead. Reihana Matthew Chase, aged 32, was found hanged in his cell at Paremoremo maximum security prison on Monday. He had served just over two months of a life sentence after admitting a charge of murder.
Miss Warren, a solo mother, aged 21, with a daugher, aged four, died from head injuries after being attacked with a crowbar in her Palmers-
ton North flat on June 21. Mrs Nicky Warren said that she was relieved by the news that Chase had taken his own life. “I mean he won’t be able to get out and offend again. I’m glad he is dead really.” She said she felt "very sorry” for Chase’s family. “Nothing is going to bring my daughter back though, but I think he deserved what he got.” She said her granddaugher was much better and more settled now “but she cries at night for her mum.”
