New F.O.L. executive member
PA Wellington Mr Rick Barker has been elected to fill the vacant seat on the Federation of Labour national executive after the resignation of Mr Rob Campbell. . The Federation’s president, Mr Jim Knox, announced yesterday that Mr Barker was elected on the second ballot. Mr Barker has been secretary of the Hotel Workers’ Federation since May. Before that he was secretary of the Northern Hotel Workers’ Union and previously worked for the Union’s Otago branch as an organiser and then as secretary. The other candidates for the post were Mr Bill Andersen, of the Northern Driver’s Union, and Mr Tom Murray, of the Timber Workers’ Union.
