Auckland trip possible for Viewfield Prince

By

G. K. YULE

Viewfield Prince possibly earned a trip to Auckland for the New Zealand Messenger later in the month when he wore down Rolls Hanover and won the Chung Wah II Restaurant Pace at Addington Raceway last evening. lan Cameron worked Viewfield Prince into a

handy position early in the race, but when the favourite, Dreamy Guy, began to tire near the straight entrance, Viewfield Prince had to change course and go for a run along the inside of Rolls Hanover, which hit the front turning for home.

Viewfield Prince did best over the last 50m and

won going away by half a length. Rolls Hanover was far from disgraced as he was forced three wide with 1200 m to run.

Another grand effort was the third of Captain Cavalia, which met trouble early and then had to cover much extra ground as he improved. He was tiring near the end, which was not sur-

prising. Flying Count, well back early, followed Rolls Hanover as he looped the field and fought on for fourth, ahead of Citation and Dunlord.

Dreamy Guy, the favourite, was in the open for most of the way and he could produce nothing extra in the run home, finishing ninth.
