One of the United States entries Seahawk leaps through the waves in the world offshore powerboat championships being held on Waitemata Harbour. Seahawk’s driver, Sal Magluta, was the United States class one champion in 1984 and 1985, but made an uncertain start in Auckland. Hoses blew in the engines of his craft in the first race, and it limped to the finish in eleventh place. In the second heat, it failed to finish. The third heat will be held today and Magluta has hopes of a vastly improved performance.
