Test for top sides
The competition leader, Burnside, will meet Albion tomorrow at Western Park in a senior A women’s softball clash which will mean everything for both sides.
Bumside needs to beat Albion to secure a position in the national inter-club championships for the first time in eight years. Albion, on the other.hand, needs the win to force a playoff to decide if it will continue to represent Canterbury at the championships. Burnside is four points ahead on the Dalgety Crown Travel table but this season’s format for the women was changed after consultation with team representatives.
Rather then accumulate points the winner of each round wins a -life, so that Burnside at present has two lives. Should Albion win the encounter on Sunday it would have one life and so create the need for at least one further game.
If Burnside wins on Sunday, it will qualify for the inter-club championships.
