Run Rutherford, rihgt tightens the wheel-nuts on his immaculate 1972 E49 R/T Charger in preparation for a high-speed driving dav for members of the R/T Chrysler Six-pack Owners’ Club at R.N.Z.A.F. base, Wigram, on Sunday. Polishing the bonnet is the club president Terry Reed. Mr Rutherford’s car, one of six of this model brought into New Zealand is powered by a highly modified six-cylinder 265 hemi racing engine which develops 350 brake horsepower. He drove the car to second place in the New Zealand saloon car championship in 1972. It has been electronically timed at 229km/h. There are about 25 R/T Chargers, covering six models, in New Zealand.
