Weather talks for Wellington
Wellington reporter
The second international conference on southern hemisphere meteorology will be held in Wellington from December 1 to 5.
More than 100 meteorologists from 12 countries will attend for intensive study of the weather over the southern half of the world.
The aim of the meeting is to improve understanding of weather behaviour south of the equator and the effect on global weather patterns.
Weather observation and prediction in the southern hemisphere are often difficult because so much is in ocean.
The conference will be sponsored by the World Meteorological Organisation, a United Nations agency, along with the American Meteorological Society and the New Zealand Meteorological Service.
