Setback for favourite
Sterling. Exchange, favourite for the Anthony Runacres Handicap at Riccarton on Saturday, had the odds heavily stacked against him from an early stage of the race. Tony Allan lost the use of one of his stirrup irons when his saddle slipped on the favourite about 200 metres after the start. Sterling Exchange finished fourth.
