Ansett terminal
Ansett International Group, which has joined Newmans Group, Ltd, and Brierley Investments, Ltd, to compete with Air New Zealand on this country’s main trunk jet routes, will build a S2M airfreight terminal at Christchurch Airport. Ansett freight terminals will also be built at Auckland and Wellington.
Project Realty, Ltd, a
subsidiary of Bowen Corporation, Ltd, the newly listed financial group, will build the three terminals for Ansett
Project Realty’s executive director, Mr Barry Wither, said construction would start next month.
The site is opposite the head office of Newmans Air in Memorial Avenue. It is expected to be completed by May 1.
The new Christchurch
terminal will include cool store facilities for fruit and produce shipments. Ansett Airfeight is expected to begin operations in New Zealand next year. The plans for the new Ansett-Brierley-' Newmans domestic airline, are expected to be announced this month.
