Memorabilia
Sir, — The organisers of the Pope’s visit are being very careful not to allow “distasteful” memorabilia to be produced, e.g., teatowels with his face on, and mats which would be walked on. I wonder whether these people would apply the same strict criteria to items portraying Maori people. I have seen on numerous occasions teatowels depicting Maori people which we are supposed to wipe the dishes with. — Yours, etc., MARG HEWLETT. November 7, 1986.
