Search will continue
The police will today continue the search for a young woman who was seen in difficulties in the Waimakariri River on Wednesday evening. Sweeps by a helicopter and light plane and a search of the riverbank failed to find the woman. The woman was seen by two whitebaiters near the old Waimakariri bridge about 5 p.m, on
Wednesday. A caravan will be staffed by the police on the old Main North Road at the southern end of the bridge today. Anyone who was travelling or whitebaiting in the area between 4.45 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. is asked to approach the police at the caravan or at Christchurch Central Police Station.
