Mr George Ritchie, top, has been appointed Christchurch area manager for Wrightson Dalgety. He will be based at the company’s Cashel Street premises. Mr Ritchie, aged 47, has had many years experience in the stock and station industry and joined National Mortgage in 1958. He served as a stock agent in Ranfurly and Mayfield before moving to Masterton as a rural finance executive. In 1976 he was appointed Taihape branch manager and after a short period in Wellington between 1979-81 was appointed manager, Christchurch. He will also be responsible for Wrightson Dalgety operations from Kaikoura to the Rakaia Gorge and offshore Chatham Islands. Mr Alan Smith (above), former district manager for Dalgety has been appointed Christchurch area deputy manager. He has. had 39 years service with Dalgety, having commenced in the Christchurch area, before being transferred to Hawarden, Seddon, Blenheim, Waipukurau, Napier and then back to Christchurch four years ago. Mr Smith’s area of responsibility will include merchandise, grain, seed and livestock operations.
