Cranes a winner
Mr Keith Whitely, the engineering services manager of C.W.F, Hamilton and Company, Ltd, holds the Designmark award of the Industrial Design Council. In the background are two of the CMIIC 10tonne mobile cranes for which the award was
presented to the company last week. The award, which Hamilton’s has had mounted in a gilt-edged frame, will be displayed in the staff cafeteria. The cranes, each
valued about $lOO,OOO, are built by Hamilton’s using a Ford tractor cab as the basic unit to which Hamilton-designed hydraulics and other attachments are fitted. The company has been
building such cranes for about three years and earlier models for the last 25 years. The company exported seven to Australia about six months ago, and most are being used by the Australian Railways. The company is negotiating the sale of more cranes to Australia.
