Rebuilding socialism
Sir, —Ted Hicks (September 6) is to be commended for publicising the efforts of the Workers' Front to revive and revitalise the socialist movement .and thereby form a viable alternative to the system of economic liberalism at present being-extolled by both Labour and National. Socialists believe that there is very little to choose from between the major political panties. The conventional wisdom of the day dictates that the freemarket approach to economics is
now supreme, and many of the values that we prized are now being sacrificed on the altar of competition. The Workers’ Front is therefore a challenge to all socialists to stand up and be counted, and stand together in building a workers’ alternative to the Government’s economic policy. — Yours, etc., TREVOR HOOPER. September 8, 1986.
