Expressway
Sir, —As an interested ratepayer attending the Lakewood Drive meeting on Monday night, I was pleased to hear the Waimairi District Council say that the expressway linking Travis Road and Marshland Road will be fully operating by March, 1987 — some 19 months away. I do express my concern that the council has allocated $7OOO to modify this road which, in the words of the attending chief loading engineer and traffic engineer, is perfectly safe. As most of the 5000 vehicles using Lakewood Drive will be transferred to the new expressway, surely it would make good sense to have (he expressway fully operational before spending money on stopgap measures that the council does not even know will work. — Yours, etc., BERNARD V. FAHEY. September 8, 1986.
