Rugby player charged
PA Invercargill A Southland rugby representative, Christopher Bain McCall, aged 25, a farmer, appeared in the District Court at Invercargill yesterday charged with assaulting the manager of the Ascot Park Hotel. Judge Twaddle re11
manded McCall to September 9, without plea. McCall is alleged to have assaulted the manager, Brian Melville Counihan, at the hotel on August 27 at the aftermatch function after Southland’s game against the touring Australians.
