Rottweiler’s success surprises owners
PA Wellington Pat and Maxene Kauri took their family’s pet rottweiler, Jae, to the national dog show at the week-end — and beat 2800 other dogs for the supreme award. The five-year-old dog would only be used for occasional breeding and showing in future, said Mrs Kauri. The supreme award was unexpected. Asked how much he would now be worth, the Kauris said as far as they were concerned he was priceless. “You couldn’t put a price on him.” Results:

of Firrgorran, owned by Pat and Maxene Kauri, Stokes Valley. Reserve: West Highland White Terrier, ANZ Champion Wistmill Woodpecker of Whitebriar, owned by M. Elson, Auckland. Puppy in show: Shetland Sheepdog, Kia Ora Kourt-N-Bold, owned by C. Deans, Palmerston North. Junior in show (one to two-year-olds): Pomeranian, Ulay My Charlotte owned by K. and M. Leng, Auckland. Intermediate (two to three-year-olds): Pointer, Aristor Finca owned by Mr and Mrs Leech, Napier. Supreme award obedience champion, Irish setter, Windsmoor Marksman CDX owned by R. Brennan, Mount Eden. Winner of the junior showman classes: (aged 10 to 15 years): Sharon Greig, Nelson.
