Rebels claim Kabul blast
NZPA-Reuter Islamabad, Pakistan Afghan rebels- have claimed responsibility for a big explosion at an arms dump outside Kabul on Tuesday night and said there had been many casualties.
A guerrilla rocket attack had hit the dump near the Afghan - Army’s Bth Division base at Kargafi, 10km northwest of the Afghan capital, said the Pakistan-based Hezb-i-Islami guerrilla party of Maulvi Yuriis Khalis.
No independent confirmation of the report was immediately available.
Afghan officials in Kabul repeated on Saturday that the explosion was accidential and that there were no casualties, despite a Soviet television dispatch blaming the Muslim rebels and reporting deaths.
