South Island walk for Hornby man
A Hornby man who walked the length of New Zealand promoting the Heart Foundation three years ago will set off on another three-month trek tomorrow.
This time, Mr Harvey (Ham) Hammersley will walk round the South Island, raising money for the Air Force Museum at Wigram. Mr Hammersley, aged 63, a World War II Air
Force veteran, will start from the Wigram air base at 9 a.m.
He will pull the distinctive two-wheeled luggage cart he took on the North Cape-to-Bluff walk in 1983..
The 2079 km walk will take him south to Invercargill, up the West Coast to Nelson, and back to Christchurch on December 1.
