Health groups at school?
The Canterbury Hospital Board will consider a suggestion that all community health services be housed within the old Christchurch Girls’ High School buildings. A board member, Professor Don Beaven, suggested that the grounds be used as a health education centre for the community. It was in the board’s interest to maintain health and prevent future problems, he told board members at their monthly meeting.
The building had all the facilities and co-ordinat-ing such things as secretarial and telephone services would be economical, he said. Professor Beaven said he envisaged the centre being similar to the Arts Centre. The board’s chairman, Mr Tom Grigg, suggested that finance would be a problem.
Professor Beaven said that he thought that most of the groups concerned already had some funds.
