New kit-set model competition
The public will be the final judge of the model construction competition which will be part of the model show this year. The competition, which has several classes, including a junior section, is open to anyone. All kit-set models, regardless of the
scale or category, are. accepted. The models, however, must be assembled by the persons entering them and should be handed in to the organisers at the Great Hall, in the Arts Centre, by 9 p.m., tonight. Winners will be awarded prizes. This competition will be
held for the first time this year at the show as a means of getting the public to participate in the show. It is also a chance to encourage children to take up kit-set construction as a hobby. According to one of the organisers of the competition, Mr Alexander Weir,
there have already been some unusual models submitted. A horse-drawn coach, sailing ships and a 7.5 cm tall by Im long Lancaster Bomber aeroplane are amongst some of those already received for the competition. For further details telephone: 525-044 or 382-118.
