Police seek man
The Christchurch police seek the man shown in the identikit picture in connection with a stabbing and assault in Kyle Park, Hei Hei, on July 22. The victim, a youth, aged 18, suffered a minor cut to the hand as he fended off a knife blow to the face.
He had been approached by the man as he walked through Kyle Park about 7 p.m. The man asked him for a cigarette. When he replied that he had none the man took two swings at his head, but missed.
The victim hit the attacker on the nose. The attacker then pulled knife from the pocket of his jacket and slashed at the victim’s face.
. The man sought is a Maori, aged about 20, about 182 cm (6ft) tall, and of solid build.
He had black, curly, collar-length hair and wore a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and steel-capped boots.
