Customs discusses trainees’ future
The Customs Depart-, ment will meet 32 of its younger staff members this afternoon to discuss their future within the department. The regional collector for the southern region, Mr Ray Allison, said last evening that 32 of the department’s trainee employees in Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, and Greymouth would attend the meeting, at 1 p.m. The "future” of the trainees in the department would be discussed, he said.
“The trainees need to be informed of what the position is in the department and what opportunities there are within the department or what opportunities there may be outside the department,” he said. Mr Allison said he would not elaborate further until after the meeting.
