Industrial relations contest
A writing competition with an industrial relations theme has been announced by the Institute of Industrial Relations Research and Caltex Oil (N.Z.), Ltd. The competition, which is open to anyone, has a cash prize of $5OO. Dr Peter Brosnan, president of the Industrial Relations Institute, said the purpose of the competition was to stimulate more research into industrial relations. “It is a very underresearched field in New Zealand," he said. He expects entries from a wide range of people including lawyers, journalists, and senior students at universities and technical institutes. The articles could cover any aspect of industrial relations but must be written specifically for the competition, he said. The winning entry will be published in the institute’s “New Zealand Journal of Industrial Relations.” Entries in the competition, which closes in December, must not exceed 7500 words. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in March.
