White convicted
A white South African has been found guilty of living with his Coloured (mixed-race) lover in a whites-only suburb, the second case in the Cape Town area in three days. Johannes Meintjies, aged 53, was convicted in a Magistrate’s Court of allowing Maria Herder to live in his home at Ysterplaat. The couple have been together for six years and have a daughter. He was cautioned and discharged by the Magistrate, who said his job was to implement the law, net to comment on its morality.—Cape Town.
