Dancing into finals
Phil Strongman (dark glasses) rests his rock ‘n’ roll partner, Lynette Stevenson, on his knee after they gained second place in the open section of the Canterbury amateur rock ‘n’ roll championships at the Prebbleton Hall on Saturday evening. The first three couples in the open and “golden oldies” sections will travel to the New Zealand amateur rock *n* roll championships to be held in Lower Hutt at Labour Day week-end. Other couples getting in the swing of things for the national championships are, from left, Rosemary Kiwi and Doug Wright, first in the
“golden oldies” section; Michelle Milton and Kent Alexander, first in the open section; and Graham and Gloria Roberts, third in the “golden oldies” section.
Absent were Trevor and Sylvia Rigby who were third in the open and second in the “golden oldies” sections. All the winners and place-getters are Christchurch people.
