Hurdler states aim
NZPA-Reuter Edinburgh
Canada’s Commonwealth 110 metres hurdles champion, Mark McKoy, said yesterday he aimed to become only the second man ever to break the 13-second barrier.
“It’s the best year of my life so far,” said McKoy. “I have been running 13.4 every time I have stepped on the track this year.” McKoy’s best mark is
13.27, clocked last year. The world record of 12.93 was set by an American, Renaldo Nehemiah, in Zurich five years ago. McKoy enjoyed the best winter’s competition of his life this year, setting world indoor bests in both the 50m and 60m hurdles. He ran a personal best of 10.21 for the 100 m this season and is at present the fastest high hurdler in the Commonwealth with 13.35.
