Katyn Forest
Sir,—Close inspection of M. Creel’s mass of convoluted verbiage on Katyn Forest reveals a basic “the Soviets. wouldn’t do that kind of thing” attitude. Hence the harping Insistence on the veracity of a 1943 “Press” article. Such faith is quite touching from one who is usually the first |o laugh off as lies and propaganda any current “Press" article that gives a negative slant on the Soviet Union, Nicaragua, etc. Meanwhile, apologist efforts aside, the question lingers — who did commit the atrocity? We are in the invidious position of realising that both sides, the Nazis and Stalin’s Soviets, were capable of it. — Yours, etc.,
I. BEMROSE. Dunedin, July 23, 1986.
