German aristocrat on drugs charge
NZPA-Reuter Oxford Gottfried Count von Bismarck, a great-great grandson of Germany’s "Iron Chancellor,” appeared in an Oxford court yesterday charged with possessing drugs.
Bismarck, a student at the exclusive r Christ Church College, was charged with possessing cocaine and amphetamines. He was remanded on £15,000 ($42,000) bail, provided he continued
to live at a drugs and alcohol treatment centre.

The magistrates ordered him to surrender his passport within 48 hours and allowed a defence request that the name of the treatment centre be kept secret The defendants were named by court officials as Sebastian Guinness, aged 22, heir to the brewing and banking fortune; Miss Channon’s close friend, Rosie ’ Johnston, aged 22; a student, Nicho-
las Vincent, aged 24; and a 34-year-old musician, Paul Dunstan.
They were all charged with possessing various drugs. The fifth person, who was charged with Bismarck on Wednesday was named as Cynthia Taylor, an American-born 38-year-old, who runs a theatrical tour company;
Dunstan was remanded in custody to July 31. The other defendants iwere bailed to appear again on September 4.
