Soviets linked to peace groups
PA Wellington The foundations of the anti-nuclear and peace movements are commun-ist-inspired and their activities are playing into the hands of the enemy, said retired Air Vice-Mar-shal lan Morrison, yesterday.
In an address to the Bank of New ZealandMassey University winter lectures in Palmerston North, Air Vice-Marshal Morrison said. Russia had recruited its allies among New Zealanders. "A few of these are true believers in' the communist philosophy and some are well-meaning, sincere members of the so-called peace movements. Wittingly or unwittingly they are all allies of communism.”
In the West, peace movements were seen as noble and sensible; in the U.S.S.R. they were exploited to maintain pressure to gustain military superiority. Address, page 20
