Skinny slipper
NZPA-AP Pointe a la Hache, Louisiana An 18-year-old prisoner had shaved his head, creamed his body with lotion, and squirmed naked through a thin feeding slot on his cell to slip away from Plaquemines Parish Jail, authorities said yesterday.
After squeezing through the 36.8 cm by 16.5 cm (14 Inch by 6’/ 2 inch) slot, Mark Gordy had removed an air-con-ditioner from a window on the third floor, jumped to an air-condi-tioner on the second floor, and then dropped to the ground, said the Warden, Mr Ralph Ferranto.
Gordy, a suspected burglar who is 1.65 m tall and weighs 54kg, was found hiding in his underwear behind a coal pile about Bkm away and about 2>4 hours after his escape on Monday, Mr Ferranto said yesterday. Gordy, who bruised his tailbone in the break-out, was booked with an additional charge of simple escape, and an extra steel bar had been welded across the top of the feeding slots in all of the Jail’s cells, Mr Ferranto said.
“If he can get his head through that,” he said, “I’m willing to let him go.”
