Coup colonel dies
Colonel Tirso Gador, who played a key role in the revolt that topped President Ferdinand Marcos, drowned when his parachute was blown into Manila Bay. Six soldiers who jumped with Colonel Gador from a Philippine Air Force helicopter south of Manila were also blown by the wind into the bay but were rescued. Manila
