False statements
PA Tauranga A Katikati contractor admitted in the District Court of Tauranga to making false statements to obtain unemployment benefit. Sergeant Ron Lynch said the contractor, aged 31, whose name was suppressed made false state-
ments on May 19, April 19 and June 26 in Tauranga that he had not received any income in the previous four weeks. He was paid more than $2300. The defendant was convicted and remanded at large by Judge Rice for a probation report and sentencing on August 5.
