Hockey selector named
PA Wellington Ross Gillespie, coach of the gold medal-winning men’s hockey team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, has returned to the team’s selection panel.
The’ Christchurch man was reappointed to the panel at a New Zealand Hockey Association management committee meeting this week. He joins the
returning selectors, Trevor Blake (Whangarei) and Kevin Towns (Auckland).
Mr Gillespie, who helped select the victorious Olympic unit, replaces Mr R. Campbell, who was unavailable after four years service. The appointments stand until the end of the next season’s national touma-
ment. Mr Gillespie’s 1976 charges will be reunited to play an August 10 cur-tain-raiser to the P. 0.5.8. international tri-series, involving Australia and Argentina, at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington.
The New Zealand team will assemble in Wellington on July 30. .
