‘Cinema in Chch

A comprehensive, and fascinating, history of the cinemas of Christchurch plus information about the New Zealand film industry is contained in a folding booklet entitled “The Cinema in Christchurch,” published by the New Zealand Film Archive.

Compiled and drawn by Mr Robert Jackson, of Christchurch, it is an updated version of a 1977 display, entitled “Film and New Zealand.” The booklet lists all Christchurch theatres, from the Royal and Opera House of 1896 up to the present day, and gives informaion on their architecture, size, seating and changes.
