Haley wins S.I. singles
Canterbury players performed with credit in the South Island under-18 badminton championships at Dunedin. In the girls' section Robin Haley won the singles and doubles and finished runnerup in the mixed doubles. Other Canterbury girls to finish in the finals were Sarah Mitchell and Kathryn
Neame. Raymond Too was also a finalist in three events. Two other Canterbury players, Mark Revis and John Powell, also reached the finals. Results of finals:— Girls’ singles.—R. Haley (Canterbury) beat K. Neame (Canterbury), 11-1, 11-4. Girls’ doubles.—Haley and J. Hamilton (Southland) beat
S. Mitchell and Neame, 15-10, 15-12.
Boys’ singles.—J. Gary (Otago) beat R. Too (Canterbury), 15-12, 15-9. Boys’ doubles.—Too and M. Revis (Canterbury) beat J. Powell (Canterbury) and K. White (Southland), 15-12, 1512.
Mixed doubles.—Too and Mitchell beat Powell and Haley, 18-14, 15-5.
