PA Wellington The Speaker, Dr Wall, told Parliament of the recent death of Squadron Leader Roger Patrick Blundell Drayton, when the House sat at 2 p.m. yesterday. Members stood in silence. Squadron Leader Drayton had represented St Albans from 1869 until his retirement in 1978 and was Senior Opposition Whip from 1976 until 1978. The Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Prebble, made a Ministerial statement on overseas investment In domestic aviation. The Under-Secretary of Labour, Mr E. E. Isbey (Lab., Papatoetoe), presented the petition bf Raewyn Phoebe Clark, of South Auckland, and 183 others asking the Government to prevent a liquefied petroleum gas bulk installation being built at McLaughlins Lane, Wiri.-' The annual reports of the Clean Air Council, the Valuation Department, the Commerce Commission, the Justice Department, the Commis-' sion for the Environment and the Export Guarantee Office were tabled.-: Ministers answered 17 questions. The Speaker ruletoout a request by the Leader of the
Opposition, Mr Bolger, for an urgent debate on A.N.Z.U.S. Mr Isbey, moved the reporting back of the Union Representatives Education Leave Bill. An amendment by Mr R. McD. Gray (Nat, Clutha) to refer the bill back to the Labour Select Committee was defeated, 45-31, and the report was tabled after a division of the same margin. The Public Finance Amendment Bill was reported back without amendment. The Tokelau Amendment Bill was reported back with amendments. Mr Peter Neilson (Lab., Miramar) reported back the Fair Trading Bill from the Commerce and Marketing Select Committee with amendments. The Government won a division on the bill’s reporting back , by 46-30 votes shortly before the House adjourned for dinner at 5.30 p.m. Members began debating the second reading of the Air Services Licensing Amend-ment-Bill when the House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The bill was given a second ■reading. Members then resumed the interrupted debate on the second reading of the National Development Act Repeal Bill. The debate was interrupted when the House rose at 11 p.ni. -
