Mister Peria appeals at Te Rapa today

Special correspondent Auckland Mister Peria and Warrigal Lad, both allowed to miss engagements at Hawera, appeal most for the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Cambridge Jockey Club’s meeting at Te Rapa today. The prospects of both horses took on an even brighter look with the withdrawal yesterday of Legionary, topweight in the Cambridge Trotting Club Handicap and a handsome last-start winner. Mister Peria is also a last-start winner, when too good for his 15 opponents in a thoroughly testing 2000 m at Avondale last Saturday. Warrigal Lad almost

won his last race but was ■ edged out by, Lord Reims in a class three 2100 m at Ellerslie last Wednesday. Mister Perla is in his element with the ground very wet and heavy as he showed at Avondale. The track is not likely to be as wet for Te Rapa but it is bound to be holding. Stitch It Milligan, Taupo Tiger and Roscrea each raced well the time before last and, their laststart failures excused, all three become prospects. Allez Pal failed to measure up against Saci and the other improving winter gallopers she met at Avondale last Saturday but that was at weight-for-age. She looks better placed in the second leg of the double, the Lorigan

Handicap. . Now rising six years, Allez Pal has managed several very good races on heavy tracks, a couple about this time last year for wins over 1400 m, at Te Awamutu and Te Rapa. ■ There seemea signs Allez Pal was coming back to useful form when she finished third in a class three 1600 m at Ellerslie on June 2 then fifth at Te Awamutu, Bayflyer and Lorna’s Effort have the ability to give Allez Pal plenty of opposition. So has Gypsy Dancer, a failure at Rotorua last Friday but a good winner the time before at Te Awamutu on June 14.
