Beau Du Jour sold to U.S.

Beau Du Jour, a good fourth in the Queen’s Birthday Stakes at Ashburton on June 2 at his most recent start, will do his future racing in California. He has been purchased by the Mid-Canterbury reinsman, Kevin Townley, as agent for an American buyer and he will leave New Zealand in the next few weeks. A three-year-old colt by Plat Du Jour from Lolette, Plat Du Jour had 21 starts

in New Zealand for two wins, six placings and $13,566 in stakes. As a two-year-old, when trained near Nelson by Brian Hill, he was runnerup in the Sapling Stakes and won the Methven Two-year-old Stakes and the Canterbury Park Stan Andrews Stakes. More recently he has been trained at Weedons by Jack Smolensk!, for whom he was a consistent placegetter.
