Long Acre injures leg—long spell
Special correspondent Cambridge Plans for Long Acre to try to win the Steel and Tube Wellington Steeples for the second successive year on July 5 have been abandoned. The gelding has gone out for a good spell and will not race again this winter. His trainer, Chris Wood, said “the leg he injured in winning the Vercoe Steeples at Te ,Rapa in May is still not 10# per cent” “So it is no use taking risks with him.” Long Acre (Crown Lease Debbie) is an eight-year-old by no means a veteran for a jumper. So Wood is hopeful that he could come back for another good winter next year.
