Shipwreck off limits Wellington reporter
The Mikhail Lermontov wreck is still off limits although the last of the oil was removed dtiring the week-end.
The Director of Marine, Mr Hugh Jones, said access to the area would remain restricted under the control of the Marlborough Harbour Board until a decision had been made on the disposal of the ship. He said the Ministry of Transport was concerned about safety and that water inside the wreck was polluted from rotting food which could be dangerous to divers.
