Five jockeys suspended
PA Hamilton Jock Caddigan was suspended up to and including June 20 for a riding offence at the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s meeting on Wednesday. Caddigan, the rider of Kwanda in the first Tui Maiden, was found guilty of careless riding and causing interference to Noble de Oro (Daryl Lang). Mandy Hawkins, the rider of Fosfire in the same race, was suspended for three riding days for causing interference to Beechview (Gary Stewart) and Smalltype (David Peake) 200 m from the finish. A three-days’ suspension was imposed on Grant Edmonds, the rider of Cute Lass in the Piako Maiden, for allowing his mount to cause interference to High Impact (Daryl Lang) and I’m
Pedro (Michael Coleman) at the 900. Catherine Treymane, the rider of Tihema in the South Auckland Racing Club Handicap, was suspended up to and including June 20 for allowing her mount to shift ground inwards over the final stages, causing interference to Blue’s Mate and Brakes Off. As the field pulled up, Blue’s Mate (Grant Edmonds) clipped the heels of Tihema and fell. Lorna’s Effort jumped Blue’s Mate and dislodged her rider, Brendan Sargent. Both riders were uninjured. Chris Otto, the rider of Mr Mint, was charged with careless riding for allowing his mount to shift ground inwards about 20m after the winning post, forcing Tihema into the line of Blue’s Mate. He was suspended up to antjr including June 13.
